Both are bed-sized — the extra 19 inches on the wide version is all sideways, and it changes how the blanket hangs rather than how far down the bed it reaches. Length is identical on the two, so this is purely a question of drop.

Will these colours run, and what happens to the tassels?
Strong contrast colourways and a fringed edge are the two things that make people nervous, and both are handled at the wash, not on the bed. Get the first wash right and the rest is routine.

The step people skip: straightening the tassels by hand before the blanket is fully dry. Once dry, a twisted tassel stays twisted, and there is no fixing it short of another wash.

Why the tasselled edge is doing more than decoration
A plain hemmed blanket has a hard stop at the perimeter. On a big bed that reads as a rectangle laid on top of another rectangle, which is why some throws never look settled no matter how carefully you arrange them. A tassel edge breaks that line. The fringe moves, it hangs at slightly different lengths, and the eye stops registering the blanket as a separate flat object. It also means there is no rolled hem to twist and curl after washing, which is the usual failure point on a large blanket that gets a lot of use. On the wide 98"×91" the effect is stronger still, because the fringe hangs free rather than resting against the side of the mattress.
