Will it actually hold on my shower floor?
The grip depends entirely on what is underneath it, not on how hard you press. Smooth and non-porous is what you need — texture is what defeats it.

Before you lay it down: clean the floor with a degreasing cleaner and let it dry, then wet both the floor and the mat's underside and press from the centre outwards.
