Will an open weave snag on everything?
Gauze is loose by design, and the fix is entirely in what you keep away from it. Treat it like a good sweater and it will outlast three fleece throws.

Cold gentle wash, low tumble or line dry. If a thread does pull, snip it flush rather than tugging it — that is the step people get wrong, and pulling a thread in a gauze weave turns one snag into a run across the panel.
The layer that makes a bed look finished without adding heat to it.
A stripped-back summer bed always looks slightly unmade — a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and nothing to give it a top edge. You end up putting a heavy quilt back on for the sake of the photo and then sleeping half-uncovered under it. A leaf-print gauze layer solves both ends of that.
