Will the vintage colours wash out?
Not if you keep it cold and out of full sun. Faded-tone palettes are the most rewarding to live with and the least tolerant of a hot cycle — they don't go patchy, they go grey, and it's gradual enough that you don't notice until it's done.

Cold gentle wash on its own the first time, then low tumble or line dry in shade and pull it square while it's damp. Squaring it damp is the step people skip — a reversible blanket dried in a twist ends up with the two faces sitting slightly out of register, and that shows on a bed.

A genuinely reversible blanket can't be printed. Printing puts colour on one face and leaves the other blank, so anything claiming two sides has to be woven with the pattern built into the structure — the same threads reading one way on the front and the reverse on the back. That's more work, and it's the reason this kind of blanket outlives a printed one: there is no surface layer to rub off along the fold lines and the top edge where hands go.
Cotton is the right fibre for it. It breathes, so the blanket is usable on its own through spring and summer rather than only as a winter layer, and it takes a proper wash without complaint — which matters for anything that spends its life on a bed. The vintage-toned palette is the other half of the appeal: colours pitched slightly faded rather than saturated, so the blanket looks like it's been in the house for years from the day it arrives, and it never goes through the awkward phase of looking too new.
