Which colour for your bathroom?

One size — 28"×55", a standard bath towel — so the only real decision is the colour, and in a small room that decision does more work than usual. Bathrooms are mostly white tile and chrome, which means the towels are the colour scheme.

Choose If this sounds like you
Milky You want the hotel look and you are prepared to wash towels properly. Nothing else makes a plain bathroom look more considered.
Muddy A shared or family bathroom. It is the one colour here that shrugs off makeup, fake tan and whatever the kids did.
Ocean or Cyan The bathroom has white or pale grey tile and needs one cool colour. Ocean is the deeper, calmer of the two; Cyan is brighter and better in a room with a window.
Pink or Light Pink You want warmth against cold tile. Light Pink is barely-there and reads almost as a neutral; Pink is the one you buy when you actually want the towels noticed.

Two of the same colour on a rail looks intentional. Four mismatched towels looks like a house-share, however nice each one is.

Waffle instead of terry — does it actually dry you?

Yes, but it works differently, and knowing how avoids the disappointment people report in their first week. Terry dries you by having thousands of loops soak water up. Waffle dries you by dragging — the raised grid moves water off the skin as you wipe, more like a scrub than a sponge.

Waffle is better for Stick with terry if
Damp bathrooms with no window — the open grid dries out between showers You want to wrap up in something thick and heavy afterwards
Small rails, where a fat terry towel never fully dries and starts to smell You like a plush, deep-pile feel more than a textured one
Anyone who prefers a bit of friction on the skin You dry hair with the same towel you dry your body with

Wash warm, tumble low or line dry, and skip the fabric softener entirely. That is the step everyone gets wrong: softener coats the waffle grid in a fine film that repels water, and a towel that repels water is just a decorative panel on a hook.

A towel that is dry again by the time you need it next.

The real complaint about bathroom towels is never absorbency. It is that a thick towel used at 7am is still faintly damp at 7pm, and by Thursday there is a smell in the room that no amount of window-opening fixes. That is a drying problem, not a washing problem, and no towel with a dense pile in a small unventilated bathroom ever really solves it. A waffle towel does, because there is far more air moving through the fabric and far less mass holding water.

What the waffle grid is doing

Waffle is a weave, not a finish — the fabric is constructed so that the yarn forms a raised grid with recessed squares between the ridges. Two useful things come out of that geometry. The pockets increase the surface area in contact with your skin without needing the bulk of a deep pile, so the towel moves water efficiently while staying light in the hand. And because those pockets are open on the face of the fabric rather than packed with loops, air passes straight through the towel when it is hanging up. That is the whole reason a waffle towel on a rail feels dry hours before a terry one does. It also means it takes up half the space in a linen cupboard and folds to a neat flat rectangle rather than a bale.

Which colour to pick

  • Milky — the soft off-white, the most hotel-like of the six. The waffle texture reads most clearly in this colour because it shows entirely through shadow.
  • Muddy — a warm grey-brown, the pragmatic choice. In a family bathroom this is the one that still looks acceptable at the end of a week.
  • Ocean — the deepest colour here. Best where the tile is pale, because a dark towel is what gives a white bathroom any contrast at all.
  • Cyan — clean and bright, and the one that looks best in a bathroom with natural light. In a windowless room it can read slightly cold.
  • Pink and Light Pink — the two warm options. Light Pink is subtle enough to sit next to Milky on the same rail; Pink is a proper colour choice and works best when it is the only strong colour in the room.

What You're Getting

  • One Soft Waffle Bliss Towel in your chosen Colour
  • 28"×55" — a standard bath towel footprint, one size across the range
  • Six colours — Milky, Pink, Cyan, Light Pink, Ocean and Muddy
  • Waffle weave — a raised grid that moves water off the skin rather than soaking it into a deep pile
  • Open structure so air passes through it on the rail and it dries out between showers
  • Folds flat and takes up noticeably less cupboard space than terry
  • Machine wash warm, tumble low or line dry
  • No fabric softener — it films over the waffle and kills absorbency
