Sheer lace shows the table underneath — is that a problem?
It's the entire point, and also the one thing that can go wrong. Sheer lace is designed to be looked through, so whatever is under it becomes part of the look. Match it to the right table and it's beautiful; put it over the wrong one and it just looks like a net curtain.

Why sheer beats solid on a round table
Solid cloths on round tables have a persistent problem: the fabric has to go somewhere as it comes off a curved edge, so it gathers into folds that never sit evenly and always look slightly wrong from one side of the room. Lace handles the curve better. It's lighter, it has open structure, and the floral pattern breaks up the eye so uneven fall reads as drape rather than as a badly ironed sheet. The openness also means the cloth doesn't visually enlarge the table — a solid cloth turns a round table into a big white circle, while lace keeps the outline of the actual furniture readable underneath.
