Which size covers what I actually need covered?

Measure the seat, not the sofa — the length you want is the run you sit on plus enough to tuck at each end. All four are 71" deep, which is what falls over the back and down the front. The second number is how far along the sofa it reaches.

Choose If this sounds like you
71" × 51" An armchair, a reading chair, or the one cushion of the sofa that has taken all the damage. You want the worn corner covered, not the whole room redecorated.
71" × 91" A two-seater, or a loveseat that two adults share and a dog treats as its own. Covers the seat run with enough spare to tuck down the sides.
71" × 102" A standard three-seater. The safe pick if you are guessing and your sofa is the normal shape of a normal living room sofa.
71" × 134" A long sofa, a corner unit, or a chaise end you want swallowed whole. Also the one to take if you like a deep drape pooling on the floor.

When you are between two, take the longer one. Excess tucks; shortfall does not.

Will it slide off every time somebody stands up?

Throws slip because of what is underneath them, not because of what they are made of. A plush face grips a textured seat and skates off a slick one — worth knowing before it lands on your leather sofa.

Works on Needs tucking, or avoid
Woven, linen-look and bouclé upholstery Leather and faux leather — grippy for nobody, tuck deep
Cotton and chenille sofas with a bit of nap Tightly woven microfibre with a slick face
Fixed-back sofas and armchairs Loose scatter-back sofas where nothing stays where you put it

Three steps to hang it properly. Drape it over the back first and let the depth fall where it wants. Then push the excess down into the crease behind the seat cushions along the full run. Then the step almost everyone skips: pull the front edge back up an inch or two so it is not resting on the floor — that single inch is the difference between a deliberate drape and something that looks like it fell.

Shake it out rather than smoothing it flat. Plush pile looks better slightly disturbed.

The sofa you were quietly embarrassed by becomes the one people sit on first.

Every lived-in sofa has one bad end. The arm that has gone shiny, the seat that has flattened, the patch where the dog gets on when nobody is watching. You are not replacing a sofa over that, and you should not have to. A cover blanket over the back and seat takes the whole conversation off the table — the wear is underneath it, and what people see instead is a warm textured surface they want to sit down on. It also fixes the other problem: the moment in the evening when the room cools and there is nothing to pull over your legs, because the thing covering the sofa is also the thing you wrap up in.

Plush pile is what makes a boho pattern read as expensive

Boho geometry printed on a flat, thin cloth looks like a beach towel. The same pattern on a deep plush pile does something different — the pile catches light along the raised sections and shades the recessed ones, so a lamp in the corner turns a two-dimensional Sahara motif into something with actual depth. That is the whole reason to pay attention to pile on a patterned throw rather than treating it as a comfort feature. Depth is also what makes it hang: a plush cover has enough weight to fall in soft vertical folds over a sofa back instead of standing away from it in stiff creases, and weight is what keeps it in place through an evening of people getting up for the kettle. The trade is that plush shows its history. It flattens where you sit most, and it wants shaking out rather than folding — which is a fair price for a surface that is genuinely warm to lie on.

  • Desert Taupe — the neutral. Warm greyish sand that sits over grey, cream and oatmeal sofas without arguing with any of them. The pick when the sofa is the problem and you do not want the fix to become the new feature.
  • Dune Blue — a dusty, sun-faded blue rather than a bright one. Reads as colour in a beige room, and cools down a living room that has gone too far into browns and terracotta.
  • Midnight Sand — the dark option, sand pattern over a deep ground. Best in rooms with plenty of light to spend, and the one that hides evening spills and dog hair most convincingly.

What You're Getting

  • One plush sofa cover blanket in your chosen colour — Desert Taupe, Dune Blue or Midnight Sand — and your chosen size
  • All sizes are 71" deep, so the drop over the back and front is the same whichever length you take
  • 71" × 51" for an armchair or a single worn cushion
  • 71" × 91" for a two-seater or loveseat
  • 71" × 102" for a standard three-seater
  • 71" × 134" for a long sofa, corner unit or chaise end
  • Sahara-style boho pattern raised in the pile, so it shifts with the light rather than sitting flat
  • Care: shake out to lift the pile, wash cool and dry low — heat is what dulls plush
  • Doubles as a throw — pull it off the sofa back and wrap up in the same piece
