Will it actually stay put on my floor?
The grip comes from the backing pressing against a clean, dry, flat floor — so the floor matters as much as the mat. Here is where it holds and where it won't.

Wipe the floor dry before the first placement and press the mat down flat from the centre out. Wash it on cold and let it air dry fully — flat or over a rail, not bunched. The step people skip: hang it up after a heavy-use morning instead of leaving it face down on wet tile. A mat that never gets to dry out starts smelling long before it wears out.
Skip fabric softener. It coats the pile and that is exactly what kills absorbency.

The old bath mat has a routine. It soaks through in about four seconds, stays damp until lunchtime, and slides two inches to the left every time someone steps on the corner. By the second person's shower it is a wet rag you are standing on, and the tile around it is worse. This one takes the water in on contact and holds it, so the floor underneath stays dry and the mat is walkable again well before the next person needs it.
Absorbency is the whole product — everything else is a consequence
A bath mat fails in one of two ways: it stops drinking water, or it stops staying still. Those are related. A saturated mat is a heavy, slippery mat, and a mat that shifts underfoot is the one you eventually stop trusting on a wet floor. The dense pile here pulls water down off your feet rather than smearing it around the surface, which is why the top stays walkable while the underside stays put against the tile. The other consequence is drying time. Water held in a deep pile that gets air on both sides leaves; water trapped in a thin flat mat sitting on cold tile does not, and that trapped water is what turns into the smell you can't wash out.

- Blue — a soft cool blue that reads as deliberate against white subway tile and chrome. If your towels are white and your bathroom is otherwise all hard surfaces, this is the one bit of colour that stops the room looking like a rental.
- Grey — neutral and quiet, and the safer pick if your tile already has a pattern or your fittings are matte black. It also hides the inevitable footprint mark between washes better than a paler shade would.
