Does a reversible blanket wash the same both sides?
Yes — but a two-faced cotton blanket dries slower than a single-layer one, and that's where people get caught out. Half-dry cotton folded into a cupboard smells like a cupboard within a week.

The step people skip: turning it over halfway through drying. Both faces need the air, not just the one facing out.

Most throws commit you. You buy one face, you live with that face, and when you get bored of it your only option is to buy another blanket. A reversible one is the cheapest possible way to change how a room looks — you pick it up, you turn it over, you put it back down, and the sofa reads differently. It's a thirty-second redecoration, and it costs nothing.
Reversible only works if both faces are finished properly
Plenty of blankets are technically double-sided — there's a back, and it's a colour. But you can always tell, because the reverse is the cheap side: looser, thinner, with the seam allowance and thread ends on show. A genuinely reversible construction means both faces are made to be looked at, and the edge is finished so that neither side is obviously the "wrong" one when the blanket is folded back on itself.
That matters more than it sounds, because a throw on a sofa is almost never fully flat. It's folded over, thrown across an arm, half turned back at the top of a bed — and in every one of those positions you can see both faces at once. A blanket with a nice front and a nasty back looks wrong in all of them.
Cotton is the right fiber for it too. Two faces of synthetic fleece would be a heat trap; cotton lets air through both layers, so the blanket adds warmth without becoming the reason you kick it off at midnight.
