I love how playful it looks, and it was exactly the pop of color my bathroom needed.
Which size fits my rail?
Measure the rail, not the bath — and if the number lands between two sizes, take the wider one. A curtain pulled tight has no fold in it and gaps at the ends when you move.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 35" × 71" | A narrow shower recess, or you're hanging two panels and want them to meet in the middle rather than one wide sheet. |
| 59" × 71" | A standard shower cubicle. Enough width to gather slightly instead of hanging flat like a poster. |
| 71" × 71" | The usual over-bath rail. The size most people are actually after, and the one that gives a proper fold. |
| 71" × 79" | A high rail, or a deep freestanding bath where the shorter drop stops above the rim and lets water past. |
The drop is the number people get wrong. Measure from the rail to where you want the hem, not from the ceiling.
How do I stop it going grey along the bottom?
Mildew grows where a curtain stays folded and wet, which is always the bottom eight inches. Fix the folding and you mostly fix the problem.
| Works | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Pulling it fully across after every shower so it dries flat | Bunching it at one end wet — that's where every grey patch starts |
| Keeping the hem inside the bath or tray so it isn't sitting in a puddle | Letting the bottom edge pool on the bathroom floor |
| Cold machine wash on gentle, hung straight back up damp | Hot washes and hot drying, which set creases into the fabric |
| Opening a window or running the fan for ten minutes after | Bleach, which will lift the pink out long before it lifts the mildew |
The step almost nobody does: hang it back up while it's still damp from the wash. It drops its own creases out under its own weight, and you never have to iron it.
One decision that changes the entire bathroom, and it takes about ninety seconds.
Bathrooms are mostly hard, pale and rectangular — white tile, white bath, a mirror, a floor. There's almost nothing in the room you can change without a tradesperson, which is why most people just live with a bathroom they find boring. The curtain is the exception. It's the single largest piece of color in the room, it hangs at eye level, and swapping it is a ninety-second job. Going bright pink is the version of that decision where nobody has to ask what you changed.

Why a strong color works better here than anywhere else in the house
Bright pink is a difficult color in a living room, because it has to negotiate with a sofa, a rug, artwork and whatever else is already there. A bathroom has none of that. The surfaces are neutral by default, the room is small, and there's usually only one soft object in it. That means a saturated color has nothing to clash with — it just becomes the room's one idea, and everything else reads as background.
There's a practical side too. A bathroom with only white in it shows every water mark and shadow. A strong color on the largest hanging surface pulls the eye to it, and the tile stops being the thing you're looking at. This is also why bright works better than pastel on a curtain: pale pink goes grey-looking in low bathroom light, and a saturated one holds its color under a single ceiling bulb.
- 35" × 71" — the narrow panel. For a small recess, or for running two of them on one rail so they part in the middle.
- 59" × 71" — standard cubicle width, with enough spare fabric to hang in soft folds instead of flat.
- 71" × 71" — the square. The common over-bath size, and the one that gives the fullest gather across a normal rail.
- 71" × 79" — same width, longer drop. For a high rail or a deep bath, where 71" of length finishes too short.
