Which Color, given it will be the loudest thing on the sofa?

There is one Size — 55"×63" — so Color is the entire decision. All four run blossom and butterfly motifs, and the difference is how much they announce themselves from across the room.

Choose If this sounds like you
Ebony Blossom A dark room, dark furniture, or you have pets and want a blanket that does not display every hair like evidence.
Golden Blossom You want the blanket to be the color in the room. Goes on a grey or cream sofa and does all the work by itself.
Butterfly Sand Warm neutrals, timber floors, linen furniture — the pattern is there but the palette stays quiet.
Ash Butterfly A grey and white room where you want texture and detail rather than a new color to coordinate around.

Buying for someone else? Butterfly Sand and Ash Butterfly are the two that will not clash with whatever their sofa already is.

Will the plush surface mat down and go shiny?

Yes, if you dry it hot. No, if you do not. That is genuinely the whole story with a mink blanket.

    Works Avoid
Cool machine wash, gentle cycle, washed on its own. Hot water, which is what makes a plush pile clump into hard patches.
Line drying, or a cool tumble with no heat at all. A hot dryer. Heat is what melts a plush surface flat and shiny, and it is irreversible.
Brushing the pile back up with your hand once it is dry. Ironing it, or draping it over a radiator, for the same reason as above.

One more thing nobody mentions: plush blankets pick up static in dry indoor air. Skip the fabric softener anyway — it flattens the pile — and if the crackle bothers you, a damp cloth run over the surface takes it out in seconds.

Cold at nine, sorted by five past.

Some blankets are warm eventually. You get under a woven throw and spend ten minutes waiting for your own body heat to fill it, which is fine if you are going to sleep and useless if you are cold right now on the sofa. A dense plush surface works the other way round — it traps heat against you almost immediately, because there is so much fibre in contact with skin. That is the specific thing a mink blanket is for: the fast fix, at the point in the evening when the heating has gone off and you are not going to turn it back on for one person.

Dense pile is why the pattern survives, not just why it is warm

Most patterned blankets are woven, which means the design is limited to what two or three yarn colors can build. That is why woven patterns tend towards geometry. A mink blanket takes its design differently — across a deep, dense pile — so it can carry the fine detail this one needs: blossom branches, butterfly wings, the sort of drawing that would turn to mush in a coarse weave. Up close you can see individual petal edges, and that is a direct function of how tightly packed the surface is.

Density does the practical work too. A thick pile has no gaps, so wind and draught do not pass through it the way they pass through an open knit — which is the difference between a blanket that is nice-looking and a blanket you actually reach for on a cold night. And because there is no open weave, there is nothing for a ring, a watch or a dog's claw to hook into and pull.

    The four colorways

    • Ebony Blossom — blossom detail on a black ground. The highest contrast and the most dramatic; the one that makes a plain sofa look considered. Also the most forgiving with pets.
    • Golden Blossom — warm gold with the blossom running through. Reads as a jewel tone across a room and lifts a beige or grey space that has gone flat.
    • Butterfly Sand — soft sand ground with butterfly motifs in tonal contrast. The neutral of the four, and the one that works in a bedroom as easily as a living room.
    • Ash Butterfly — cool grey with the butterflies picked out lightly. Quiet enough to sit on a grey sofa without competing with it, detailed enough to be worth looking at close up.

    What You're Getting

    • One Oriental-Inspired Mink Blanket in your chosen Color, in the 55"×63" Size
    • Dense plush pile that traps heat against you straight away rather than warming up slowly
    • Fine blossom and butterfly detail that a coarse weave could not hold
    • Four colorways — Ebony Blossom, Golden Blossom, Butterfly Sand and Ash Butterfly
    • Closed surface with no open weave, so rings, watches and claws have nothing to snag on
    • One-person sofa size at 55"×63" — covers an adult with their feet up
    • Cool gentle machine wash, on its own, no fabric softener
    • Line dry or cool tumble only — heat is what flattens plush permanently
