Which size — and is this a throw or a blanket?

It is both, depending on the size you pick. Everything from 35"×35" up to 35"×94" is a runner-shaped throw for furniture; 51"×71" is the one you actually get under. Only one Color is made — Charcoal Maze — so size is the whole decision.

Choose If this sounds like you
35"×35" A square for the seat of an armchair, or folded over a side table or ottoman as a bit of texture.
35"×59" and 35"×71" Draped over the back or arm of a two-seater, or across the foot of a bed as a runner.
35"×83" and 35"×94" A long three-seater, or a bed runner on a queen or king where you want the tassels to hang past the edge.
51"×71" You want to sit under it. Wide enough for one adult on the sofa without your feet sticking out.

The narrow sizes look like styling. The 51"×71" is the one that goes missing because someone took it to their room.

What about the tassels and the washing?

Tassels are the first thing to go wrong on a woven throw, and it is almost always the dryer's fault.

    Works fine Avoid
Cool machine wash on a gentle cycle, on its own. Washing it with zips, hooks or anything with velcro — the fringe catches and pulls a whole row loose.
Line drying flat or over a wide rail. A hot tumble dry, which shrinks the weave unevenly and knots the tassels into felt.
Combing the fringe straight with your fingers while it is still damp. Bleach or fabric softener, both of which flatten the texture the weave is there for.

If a loop pulls out on the surface, do not cut it — work it back through from the reverse with a blunt needle. Cutting a woven loop is what turns a snag into a hole.

One thing on the sofa that makes the whole room look finished.

There is a stage a living room gets stuck at. The furniture is in, the walls are painted, and it still looks like a showroom nobody lives in — flat surfaces, one texture, nothing to grab the eye. It is also freezing at 9pm because the heating went off and nobody wants to put it back on. The Nomad Weave solves both of those with the same object: a heavy, patterned, slightly rough-textured throw that breaks up the flatness and is warm enough to actually reach for.

Woven, not printed — and that decides how long it looks good

The maze pattern is constructed in the weave. Two yarn colors cross each other to build the geometry, which is why the design has a raised, tactile surface you can feel with a hand rather than a flat graphic. Printed throws lose their pattern to washing within a season; a woven one loses nothing, because there is nothing sitting on the surface to wear away. The reverse side runs the same maze with the two colors swapped, so it looks intentional whichever way it lands on the sofa.

The weight helps as much as the warmth. A light throw slides off your knees and ends up on the floor. This one has enough body to stay where you put it, and enough drape that it folds over a sofa arm without standing up stiff.

    The colorway

    • Charcoal Maze — a dark grey-black geometric maze against a pale natural ground. It reads as neutral from across the room and as pattern up close, which is the useful combination: it goes with a grey sofa, a tan leather one, or a cream one without any of them clashing. It is also the practical end of the color spectrum — dark enough that a dropped crumb or a dog hair does not announce itself.
