Will this suit the sink I have in mind?

There is only one version, so the decision is where it goes — and bamboo makes that decision for you. It is a warm, matte, natural material, which is either exactly right for your basin or slightly at odds with it.

This is for you if Think twice if
Your bathroom or kitchen already has timber, rattan or stone in it, and the plastic bottle by the tap is the thing spoiling the shot. Your scheme is hard chrome and high gloss throughout, where warm bamboo will read as the odd one out.
You buy hand soap in bulk and decant it, so a refillable dispenser is already how you operate. You want to keep buying branded bottles and swapping them out — then a dispenser is just an extra step.
It is going on a basin, a kitchen bench or a guest bathroom shelf where people actually see it. It would live in a permanently wet spot, like inside the shower or on the lip of a bath.

One for the bathroom and one for the kitchen sink is the common way people end up owning two.

How do I keep bamboo looking good next to a tap?

Bamboo is fine with splashes and unhappy about standing water. Everything below follows from that one fact.

    Do this Avoid this
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and dry it off in the same motion. Standing it in a puddle at the back of the basin where water never evaporates.
Wipe drips off the pump nozzle before they dry into a crust. Submerging it, or putting it through any kind of dishwasher cycle.
Rinse the pump through with warm water when you change soap type. Filling it with anything thick and undiluted, which clogs a pump faster than anything else.

The step people skip: pumping warm water through it before the first refill and whenever you switch soaps. Old soap left in the tube dries in the narrow part of the mechanism, and that is what makes a dispenser feel stiff two months in.

The last supermarket bottle leaves the edge of your sink.

Every bathroom has one item ruining it, and nine times out of ten it is the hand soap. A branded plastic bottle with a barcode and a promotional label sits right at eye level next to the tap, and no amount of nice tiling wins that argument. Decanting into a dispenser is the cheapest visible upgrade in the house — the soap is identical, the surface just stops shouting. Bamboo takes it a step further, because it brings actual warmth to a room that is otherwise all cold, hard surfaces.

Why the pump is the part that decides whether you keep it

People choose a dispenser on looks and then live with the pump. A good one delivers a consistent dose on a half press, returns cleanly, and does not dribble down the side of the body after you let go — because that dribble is what leaves a sticky ring on your bench and eventually on the bamboo. The tube reaching the base of the reservoir matters just as much: a short dip tube means the last inch of soap is unreachable, so you top it up before it is empty and end up with an ageing layer at the bottom that never gets used. Neither of those things is visible in a photograph, and both are why one dispenser lasts years and another gets thrown out.

    Where it works

    • The bathroom basin — the main job, and the place where a plastic bottle does the most damage to the room.
    • The kitchen sink — dish soap decanted into it, which is the single easiest way to hide the loudest packaging in the whole kitchen.
    • A guest bathroom — where you want the room to look considered without doing anything to it.
    • A laundry or utility bench — same trick, on a surface nobody usually bothers styling.

If I had known the base was a black plastic soap container and only the base of the pumps were bamboo I would not have purchased them. Very disappointed in the quality I had expected. I even re-read the description over after receiving them and nothing leads one to believe the base is plastic. Lesson learned.
