    Will this fit my bath?

It is a full-length mattress rather than a neck cushion, so the thing to check is the flat run of your tub, not the tub's outside dimensions. Lie back in it dry and see where your shoulders and hips actually land — that is the length that matters.

Your bath If this sounds like you
A standard alcove tub The usual rectangular built-in bath with a sloped back. This is what a full-body bath mattress is designed for, and it is where you feel the difference most — the slope stops being something you slide down.
A freestanding or slipper tub Curved sides and a deeper well. Still works, and the padding conforms, but the mattress will bow in slightly at the sides rather than lying dead flat.
A short or corner tub Measure the flat internal base before ordering. In a compact tub you may end up using it as an upper-body pad rather than head to toe, which is still an improvement but not the full effect.

Cast iron and enamel baths are the ones that benefit most — they are the coldest and the hardest.

    Won't it go mouldy?

Only if you leave it in the bath, which is exactly what everyone does. Anything soft and padded that lives permanently in a wet tub will eventually grow something. The fix takes ten seconds and it is entirely about what happens after the bath, not during it.

    Do Avoid
Lift it out, shake it, and hang it over the shower rail or the side of the bath to dry. Rinse it with clean water after a bath oil or bath bomb Leaving it face-down in a wet tub overnight. Folding it away damp into a cupboard. Bleach, which degrades the padding and the surface long before it does anything useful

The step people skip is the rinse after using bath products. Oils and bath bomb residue leave a film that holds moisture against the surface, and that film is what actually feeds mildew — not the bath water. Ten seconds under the tap and it dries clean.

A bath you can stay in for forty minutes instead of twenty.

The bath is supposed to be the relaxing part of the day and instead it is a slow negotiation with a hard sloped surface. Your neck has nowhere to go, so you fold a towel behind your head and it slides down within five minutes. Your tailbone finds the one spot where the enamel curves. You shift, you re-fold the towel, you give up and get out. The water was fine. The bath itself was the problem.

Full length is the whole point

Standard bath pillows are neck cushions, and they solve about a third of the problem. They hold your head up and leave your shoulder blades, lower back and tailbone pressed directly against enamel. Ten minutes in, the pressure points are exactly where they always were and you are propped at a slightly odd angle on top of it.

A full-body mattress works because it spreads your weight across the whole contact area rather than concentrating it at three points. There is a second effect people do not expect: enamel and cast iron pull heat out of you constantly, which is a large part of why a bath cools faster than it should when you are lying in it. Put a padded layer between your back and the tub and less of your body heat goes into the metal. The bath stays comfortable longer without you topping it up from the hot tap twice.

    • The head and neck section — the part that replaces the folded towel. Sits high enough to read or hold a phone without craning.
    • The back and shoulder run — the section that does the real work, sitting between your shoulder blades and the slope of the tub.
    • The seat and lower section — the bit no neck pillow addresses. This is what stops the slow slide down the tub that ends every long bath.
    • The surface — designed to sit in water and be lifted out and dried, not to be treated like an indoor cushion.

    What You're Getting

    • One full-body bath mattress covering head, back and seat rather than just the neck
    • Padding across the whole contact area, so your weight is spread instead of loaded onto three pressure points
    • A thermal buffer between you and cold enamel or cast iron, which is why the bath stays comfortable longer
    • Sized for a standard alcove tub, and usable as an upper-body pad in shorter baths
    • Lifts out and hangs to dry over the bath edge or shower rail
    • Suits cast iron, enamel and acrylic tubs — the harder and colder the bath, the bigger the difference
    • Care: rinse with clean water after bath oils or bath bombs, then hang to dry fully
    • No bleach, and never store it away damp
