Four layers — will it be too hot, and how do I wash it?
Four layers of cotton is not the same thing as four layers of fleece. The layers are stitched together with air between them, so the blanket traps warmth without sealing heat in the way a solid synthetic throw does. It is the reason people use these year round rather than putting them away in April.

Wash cool and gentle, dry low, and give it a proper shake out before it goes back on the bed. The shake is the step people skip — it is what re-lofts the air between the four layers and turns a flat damp rectangle back into a blanket.
