Wood and wet glasses — does that actually work?
Yes, provided you treat them as coasters and not as saucers. A wooden coaster takes the ring off your table and takes the heat off your table, which is the whole job. What it will not tolerate is sitting in a puddle overnight or going through a dishwasher, because that is how any wood cups and splits.
