Does cotton gauze survive the wash, or does it come back a wrinkled rag?
It comes back crinkled, and that is the point. Gauze is woven loose and layered, then double-spliced down the middle so the two halves are joined rather than hemmed together at the edge. The crinkle is the weave relaxing, not damage.

The problem with most throws is that they are one temperature. Fleece is too much by April. A cotton sheet is not enough by September. The stitching is doing more than decoration
Layered gauze only works if the layers are tied to each other. Otherwise the top sheet slides and you get a blanket with a thick end and a thin end. The heart stitch pattern quilts the layers together across the whole surface at regular intervals, so the loft stays even from corner to corner. The double-spliced seam down the centre joins two panels edge to edge rather than overlapping them, which is why the blanket lies flat instead of standing up in a ridge where the join is. It is the kind of construction detail you notice in month six, not week one.
- Sunset Cream — a warm off-white with a faint golden cast. Disappears into a neutral room and makes a grey sofa look less cold. The safest pick if you are matching nothing in particular.
