Apricot or grey — which one suits my bathroom?
There is one size here, 29"×13", so the only real decision is the colourway. Both run the same ginkgo leaf motif in orange; what changes is the ground it sits on, and that is what determines whether the towel warms your bathroom up or cools it down.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| Apricot & Orange | Your bathroom has warm timber, brass or gold tapware, cream tile, or terracotta anywhere. Also the one to pick if the room gets no natural light and you want it to feel less like a cupboard. |
| Grey & Orange | Chrome or black tapware, white or grey tile, a modern rental bathroom you cannot change. The grey ground keeps it calm and lets the orange leaf be the only colour in the room. |
Hand towels get used constantly, so one on the rail and one in the wash is the arrangement that actually works.
What is 29"×13" actually for?
This is a hand and face towel, not a bath sheet. Long and narrow, so it hangs on a rail or a ring without bunching, and dries out between uses instead of sitting damp.
| Works for | Avoid if |
|---|---|
| Hands at the basin, face washing, guest bathrooms, kitchen rail duty, gym bag, hanging over an oven handle, wiping down after a shave | You are shopping for something to dry your whole body or wrap long hair in — 29" is not enough towel for that |
Wash it before first use. That is the step almost everyone skips, and with cotton it matters: the first cycle opens up the loops and is the difference between a towel that absorbs and one that skates across your hands. Cool wash, no fabric softener — softener leaves a waterproof film on cotton, which is the single most common reason a towel stops working.
Tumble low or hang it out. Hot drying is what turns a soft towel scratchy.
The one thing in the bathroom you can change without a renovation.
Bathrooms are mostly fixed. The tile is the tile, the vanity came with the place, and the tapware is not yours to swap. So the towel on the rail carries an unreasonable share of the room's personality, and most of them are a mismatched beige rectangle that came in a three-pack years ago. Swapping in a ginkgo leaf towel costs nothing structural and changes the first thing anyone sees when they open the door — which is, uncomfortably often, guests.

Cotton, and why that decides how long it stays soft
A hand towel gets used more often than anything else in the bathroom and washed more often as a result. Synthetic-blend towels handle that by going slick — they stop absorbing and start pushing water around, and no amount of washing brings them back. Cotton behaves the opposite way. The loops relax over the first few cycles and the towel gets more absorbent, not less, which is why a good cotton hand towel is better in month three than it was on day one.
The narrow 29"×13" shape helps too. Less fabric means it dries out fully between uses rather than staying half-damp on the rail all day, and a towel that dries properly is a towel that does not develop that flat musty smell by Thursday.
The two colourways
- Apricot & Orange — A soft warm apricot ground with the ginkgo leaves picked out in a deeper orange. Tonal rather than high contrast, so it reads as a warm block of colour from across the room and only resolves into a leaf pattern up close. The pick for timber, brass and any bathroom that feels cold.
- Grey & Orange — A cool grey ground with the same orange ginkgo running over it. Much higher contrast, so the leaf shape is the thing you notice. This is the one for a white-and-chrome bathroom where a single warm accent does more work than a whole palette.
