Is cotton warm enough, or will I be cold?
Cotton is the right answer for most of the year and the wrong answer for a freezing bedroom with no heating. It breathes, which means it regulates rather than roasts.

Wash it cool and take it out of the machine promptly — cotton sets its creases when it sits damp in a drum, and that is the step almost everyone skips. Line dry or tumble low. Skip fabric softener entirely: it coats cotton fibres and is the main reason a soft blanket stops being soft.
Expect a small amount of relaxing in the first wash. That is cotton behaving normally, not a fault.

The blocked geometric design is constructed in the weave rather than stamped on the surface. Two things follow from that. First, the blanket has a front and a back that both look finished, so it does not matter which way it lands when someone throws it over the arm of the couch. Second, the structure gives it weight and hang — it falls into folds instead of standing up in stiff planes the way a coated printed fabric does. That is the difference between a blanket that looks styled when it is just lying there and one that needs arranging every time.
The two colourways are also built from yarn, not dye on top, so the tones hold their contrast through repeated washing instead of blurring toward a single muddy shade.
