King or Super King?
There's no smaller size in this one, which matters: even on a King it is a generous cover rather than a tight fit. Choose based on how much you want hanging over the sides.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| King | A king bed, and you want the floral to read as the top of the bed — neat sides, base and legs still visible. Also the one to pick if you'd like a soft overhang on a smaller mattress. |
| Super King | A super king, or a king where you want the pattern falling well down both sides so it's the first thing you see when you walk into the room. |
If your mattress is deep — pillow-top, topper, or both — that depth eats into the drop. Take the Super King.
Is a floral coverlet going to date the room?
Florals date when they're loud, high-contrast and pink. The way to use one without regret is to let it be the only pattern in the room.
| Works with | Fights with |
|---|---|
| Plain walls, plain curtains, plain pillowcases — the coverlet carries the whole room | Patterned wallpaper or a busy rug. Two patterns in a bedroom cancel each other out |
| Wooden and painted bed frames, and neutral bedside lamps | A headboard in a strong contrasting color, which crops the floral awkwardly at the top |
| Cool, gentle machine washing on its own | Hot water, bleach and optical brighteners, all of which flatten floral color to grey |
The step people skip: turn it before you dry it, and shake it out flat. A large coverlet dried in a heap sets creases across the middle of the pattern that show every time the bed is made.
One thing on the bed, and the bedroom is finished.
Most bedrooms get decorated by accumulation. A lamp here, a cushion there, three different neutrals that nearly match, and a room that never quite resolves into anything. The shortcut is to put one confident thing on the largest surface and let everything else stay plain. A floral coverlet across a King or Super King bed is about as large a surface as a bedroom offers.

Why a coverlet, rather than another duvet cover
A duvet cover has to contain a duvet, which means it inherits the duvet's lumpiness — the corners that never quite fill, the section that migrates to one end. A coverlet lies over the top of everything as a flat, finished layer. It smooths what's underneath, it gives the bed a straight edge, and it can be pulled up in ten seconds in the morning, which means the bed actually gets made.
It's also the layer that solves the awkward months. In spring and autumn, a full duvet is too much and a sheet is too little. A coverlet on its own covers that gap, and in winter it goes over the duvet and adds weight where you want it — across the body, not around your face.
The two sizes, and what each looks like
- King — covers a king mattress with a controlled overhang. The floral stays largely on the horizontal, which is the more restrained look and the better one in a smaller bedroom where a long drape would crowd the walkway.
- Super King — the wide one. On a super king it fits properly; on a king it hangs low down both sides, so the pattern is visible standing in the doorway. This is the choice if the bed is meant to be the focal point of the room.
