Will it clip onto my pots?
It grips the rim, so what matters is the rim, not the pot. A clean, continuous edge is all it needs.

The normal way to drain a pot is to fetch a colander, put it in a sink that already has three things in it, carry a heavy pot of boiling water across the kitchen, tip it in, then tip the pasta back into the pot — which is now cold, and which you have to wash anyway. Half the water ends up as steam in your face and some portion of the pasta ends up in the plughole. Clipping a strainer straight onto the rim removes the colander, the transfer and the second wash. You drain where the pot already is and serve out of it.
