Do I size to my bed, or size up?

Match your mattress and you get a blanket that sits neatly on top; size up one and you get proper overhang down both sides. This is sold by bed size, so the only real question is how much drape you want hanging over the edge.

Choose If this sounds like you
Double A double bed you sleep in alone, or a spare room where the blanket is mostly there to make the bed look finished.
Queen Two people on a queen. Also the right pick on a double if you want the blanket falling over the sides instead of stopping at the mattress edge.
King A king bed, or a queen shared with someone who rolls. Also the size people take for a big sectional they want fully covered.

Nobody has ever complained that a plush blanket was slightly too big.

Will it go flat, matted and staticky like every other plush blanket?

Plush fails for one reason: heat. Hot water and a hot dryer are what turn a soft pile into that hard, slightly crunchy texture you remember from a childhood throw.

Works Avoid
Cold gentle wash on its own, mild liquid detergent, tumble dry on the lowest setting or air dry flat, then shake the pile out Hot water, high dryer heat, ironing, bleach, and fabric softener — softener coats plush fibres and is what causes the matting it claims to prevent

Wash it alone the first time. Plush sheds a small amount of loose fibre on its first run and you do not want that through a load of dark clothes.

The step people skip: shaking it out hard when it comes out of the dryer. Thirty seconds of that lifts the whole pile back up and is the difference between a blanket that looks new and one that looks tired.

The bed looks made even when it isn't, because the blanket does the work.

A bed with a duvet and nothing else always looks slightly unfinished — a plain rectangle of fabric, a couple of pillows, done. The usual fix is a folded throw at the foot that slides off in the night and lives on the floor by morning.

This one is sized to the mattress rather than to a throw, and the chevron runs across the full width in raised plush. It covers the bed properly, which means it stops being decoration and starts being bedding you actually sleep under.

Why the chevron is embossed into the pile

The chevron on this blanket is formed in the plush itself — the pile is pressed to different heights so the zigzag exists as a change in depth, not a change in colour. That is why it works in single-tone colorways like Ivory Cloud, where a printed pattern would need a second shade to be visible at all.

The practical upside is that the pattern cannot fade or crack, because there is no ink involved. It also catches light along the raised ridges and holds shadow in the pressed channels, so the blanket has depth from across the room and reads as texture close up. Run a hand across it and you can feel the chevron before you see it.

The five colourways

  • Ivory Cloud — the softest, palest option, where the chevron shows purely as light and shadow. The hotel-bed look, and the least forgiving in a house with pets.
  • Sandstone Beige — warm neutral with a little more depth than ivory. The one that sits happily with wood furniture and oatmeal linen without anyone having to think about it.
  • Seafoam Blue — pale, cool and slightly green. Calms down a bedroom that is otherwise all warm tones, and looks best in a room with real daylight.
  • Charcoal Grey — the deepest and the most practical. Shows the chevron ridges most sharply under a bedside lamp, and hides everyday use.
  • Blush Rose — muted dusty pink, not a bright one. Chosen by people who want a bedroom to feel soft without it turning into a colour scheme.
