Is an open knit going to catch on everything?
Textured knits are more delicate than a flat weave, and pretending otherwise is how people end up disappointed. The care is not difficult, but it is different from a bath towel.

Cool gentle wash, mesh bag if you have one, dry flat. The step people skip is drying — never hang a wet knit over a single rail. The weight of the water drags the loops out along that line and the stretch does not come back. Lay it out on a rack or a dry towel instead.
