Will a knit like this snag and go baggy?
Textured knits fail for two reasons: things catch on them, and they get washed like a bath towel. Both are avoidable, and neither is difficult.

Wash cool on gentle, use a mesh bag if you have one, and dry flat rather than hanging — a wet knit hung over a rail stretches under its own weight and never fully recovers. If a loop does pull, do not cut it. Work it back through from the reverse with a blunt needle and it disappears.

Printed florals go flat the moment the light in the room is bad, which in most living rooms is from about four in the afternoon onwards. Knitted ones do not, because the pattern is built out of the surface itself — raised petals, dropped ground, actual shadow. Put this over the back of a sofa in winter half-light and the flowers still read, which is more than can be said for anything printed. What the knitted structure buys you
A knit has give in both directions, which is why it settles into the shape of a chair back instead of standing off it in stiff folds. It is also why it feels warmer than its weight suggests — the loops hold small pockets of air, so you get insulation from structure rather than from bulk. That combination, light in the hand but warm across the knees, is the whole argument for a knitted throw over a woven one.
The trade-off is honest: an open, sculptural knit is not windproof and is not meant to be the only thing on a bed in February. It is a layer and a texture. Judged as that, the raised floral does something a flat blanket cannot, and it does it in a way that survives being folded, sat on and shoved into the corner of the sofa.
