Between two lengths, go longer. A short cloth looks like a mistake; extra drop just looks generous.
What about the tassels, and everyday spills?
Tassels are the bit that gets destroyed by a machine, not by dinner. They tangle at high spin and shred on high heat. Handle those two things and the trim outlives the cloth.
