Which size is right — and is this a tablecloth or a topper?
The smaller sizes here are square toppers for side tables and stacks, the larger ones are full dining cloths. Deciding which job you want it to do first makes the size obvious.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 24"×24" or 35"×35" | A nightstand, a plant stand, the top of a dresser, or a square topper laid diagonally over a larger plain cloth so the tassels hang at the corners. |
| 35"×59" or 53"×53" | A small kitchen table for two, a square four-seater, or a hallway console where you want the cherries visible and the tassels swinging off the ends. |
| 53"×71" or 53"×87" | The everyday four-to-six seater dining table — the two sizes most people end up ordering. |
| 53"×102" | A long table that seats eight, or a table that gets extended whenever the extended family is in town. |
Plenty of people buy a big one for the dining table and a 24"×24" for the sideboard to match.
How do the tassels hold up in the wash?
Tassels are the part that fails on a cheap cloth, and they fail in the machine, not on the table. Treat them once at the start and they stay tidy for years; ignore them and you get a fringe that looks slept in.
| Works on | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Wood, glass and stone tabletops, sideboards, consoles, and outdoor tables in still weather where the tassels can hang properly. | Washing it loose with zips and hooks, high-heat drying, and hanging the tassels anywhere a cat can reach them. That last one is not a joke. |
Cold gentle wash in a mesh bag, tumble low or line dry. The step people skip: comb the tassels straight with your fingers while they're still damp. Thirty seconds, and they dry hanging in clean lines instead of matting into little knots.
A red cherry print turns the kitchen table into the most cheerful thing in the house.
Kitchen tables get grim by degrees. First the surface picks up ring marks and knife nicks, then it becomes the place the post lands, and eventually it's a functional slab nobody looks at on purpose. You don't need a new table. You need something on it with a color strong enough to reset how the whole corner reads. Red cherries on a pale ground do that in about the time it takes to unfold the cloth — the room goes from neutral-and-tired to a kitchen someone clearly enjoys.

Why the tassel edge is doing more work than it looks like
A hemmed tablecloth ends in a straight line. Straight lines are fine, but they're also what makes a cloth look flat and slightly institutional when it's hanging over a table edge. A tassel trim breaks that line into a soft vertical fringe, and because each tassel moves independently, the edge of the cloth reads as three-dimensional from a seated position rather than as a flat drop.
There's a weight benefit too. Tassels are heavier than the cloth they're attached to, which means the hem hangs down properly at the corners instead of curling up and out. It's the reason a tasselled cloth looks composed on a table that isn't perfectly level, and a plain one shows every flaw in the drop.
The cherry motif is a small repeating pattern rather than one large placed design, which is deliberate and useful. It means whatever size you order, the pattern scale looks right — a 24" topper and a 53"×102" dining cloth read as the same cloth rather than as two different products.
The seven sizes
- 24"×24" — Small square. Nightstands, plant stands, the top of a stack of books that needs softening.
- 35"×35" — Square topper. Sits diagonally over a plain undercloth or covers a small square table outright.
- 35"×59" — Narrow rectangle. Consoles, sideboards and small two-seater kitchen tables.
- 53"×53" — Full square. For square four-seaters and for round tables where you want the corners to hang as points.
- 53"×71" — The standard four-seater dining size.
- 53"×87" — The standard six-seater size, and the most-ordered length.
- 53"×102" — Long tables and extended leaves.
