Which size — and does the weight in brackets matter?
The weight rises with the size because it's the same thick sherpa construction throughout, so you're choosing coverage, not density. Decide where it's going to live first, then pick the size that fits that piece of furniture.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 59" × 79" (3kg) | One person on the sofa, wrapped up properly. Also the one that folds down small enough to actually live on the armchair. |
| 71" × 87" (3.5kg) | Going on a bed for one, or on a two-seater where two people always end up sharing and one always loses. |
| 79" × 91" (4kg) | A double bed, and you want it to hang over the sides rather than stop at the mattress edge. |
| 87" × 94" (5kg) | A big bed, or a big sofa with three people and a dog on it. The one that covers everyone at once. |
When you're between two sizes, take the larger one — nobody has ever complained a blanket was too big.
Will it go flat and matted after a few washes?
Sherpa doesn't wear out so much as it gets compressed, and compression is almost entirely a heat problem. Handle the heat correctly and the pile stays lofted; get it wrong once and the curl relaxes permanently.
| Do this | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Wash cool, on its own, with the drum no more than two-thirds full so the pile has room to move. | Hot washes. Heat is what flattens the curl, and once it's flat it doesn't come back. |
| Dry it flat or over a line, and shake it out hard once it's dry. | Fabric softener. It coats the fibres, kills the loft and leaves the surface feeling slick rather than soft. |
| Give it its own wash cycle, away from towels. | Washing it with anything carrying a zip, buckle or velcro strap — those drag the pile out in patches. |
Expect a little loose fibre in the first wash — that's the short ends shedding out of a new pile and it settles down quickly. The step people skip: shaking it out before it goes back on the bed. Thirty seconds of snapping it in the air lifts the whole surface and is the difference between a blanket that looks new and one that looks like it's been sat on for a year.
The blanket that ends the argument about who gets the good one.
Most households have one blanket everybody wants and four nobody touches. The thin ones slide off your shoulders, the woven ones catch on a watch strap, and the one good one is always already taken by whoever sat down first. This is a heavy, deep-pile sherpa blanket that stays put where you drape it, and there is enough of it — even in the smaller sizes — that sharing doesn't mean losing.

Loft is what you're paying for
Two blankets can look identical folded on a shelf and behave completely differently on a sofa. The variable is loft — how tall the pile stands and how much air it traps between the curls. A shallow pile compresses to nothing the moment you lean back on it, so the blanket stops insulating exactly where your body is touching it. A deep sherpa pile keeps its structure under load, which is why this one still feels thick under your shoulder blades an hour into a film.
The weight listed against each size is a useful signal here. Three kilograms in a 59" × 79" panel is a lot of material for that area, and that density is what stops the blanket behaving like a sheet — it drapes into folds and stays where you put it instead of riding up your back every time you shift. It also means it hangs properly off the end of a bed rather than sitting on top like a piece of paper.
- Matcha Green — soft grey-green, closer to sage than to anything bright. Works in a room with timber and cream, and hides more than a pale color does.
- Sunshine Yellow — the warmest of the six and the only genuinely bold one. For a neutral sofa that needs one thing happening on it.
- Creamy Latte — warm beige with a faint golden base. The safe pick, and the one that looks intentional folded over the arm of almost any sofa.
- Platinum Mist — cool pale grey. Sits well with charcoal and white rooms where warmer neutrals look slightly off.
- Berry Blue — deep and saturated. The best of the six at not showing everyday marks, which matters if the dog has opinions about the sofa.
- Velvet Whisper — muted dusty purple, soft rather than loud. For bedrooms where grey has started to feel a bit cold.
