Three lengths — how much floor are you covering?
Two of these are the same width, so the real choice is how far it runs along the room. Think about the path you actually walk from shower to basin, not the shape of the bathroom.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 20"×31" | One standing spot in front of the shower or basin. A small bathroom, an en suite, or a floor where anything longer would run into the toilet. |
| 20"×47" | A runner along the length of a bath, or the strip between the shower and the towel rail. The one that stops you stepping off the mat onto wet tile halfway through drying. |
| 28"×63" | A large or family bathroom where a small mat looks lost. Wide as well as long, so two people getting ready at once are both standing on something. |
In a room with a door that opens inward, check the swing before taking the longest one.
Will the non-slip actually hold on my floor?
Non-slip works by contact, so a flat floor gets the full benefit and a heavily textured one gets less. It is worth knowing which you have before it arrives.
| Grips well on | Grips less on |
|---|---|
| Large-format tile, vinyl and sealed concrete | Small mosaic tile with deep grout lines throughout |
| Smooth, clean, dry floors | Floors with a film of soap or floor polish on them |
| Flat, level surfaces where the whole mat sits down | Rough stone or slate with an uneven face |
Three steps and one of them is the one people skip. Clean and dry the floor before you lay it, because non-slip against a soapy floor is just a mat sliding on soap. Press it down across the full area rather than dropping it into place. Then the skipped step: hang it up after your morning shower so both the mat and the floor beneath it dry out. Damp sitting between mat and tile is what eventually lifts a backing, and it is also what makes a bathroom smell for reasons nobody can identify.
Wash cool, dry low. High heat is the fastest way to ruin a non-slip backing.
You get out of the shower and put your foot down without thinking about it.
Wet tile is the least forgiving surface in the house and it is also the one you meet barefoot, half awake, with your eyes shut against the shampoo. Most people manage it with a folded towel on the floor, which slides, soaks through, and gets kicked into a heap by the second person. A proper bathroom mat that stays where it is put changes the morning in a small but real way: you stop bracing, you stop mopping the floor afterwards, and the towel goes back to being a towel. The ocean wave design earns its place on top of that — a bathroom floor is the largest uninterrupted surface in the room, and it is nearly always beige.

A mat that moves is worse than no mat at all
This is the part worth being honest about. A bath mat that slides is not merely annoying — it is actively more dangerous than bare tile, because you step onto it expecting it to hold and it does not. Everything else about a bathroom mat is comfort; this one thing is the reason to buy a mat designed for the job instead of putting a bathroom rug on the floor. Grip depends on unbroken contact between the underside and the floor, which is why the surface you own matters as much as the mat, and why a soapy or polished floor undoes the whole arrangement. The other half of the design is drying speed. A mat that holds water deep at its base stays damp all day, loses grip as the underside stays wet, and starts to smell within weeks. A mat built to release water back to the air is dry again by evening, which keeps both the grip and the room in better condition — provided you hang it up occasionally rather than leaving it flat for a fortnight.
- Coastal Waves — the higher-contrast pattern, waves clearly drawn across the mat. Reads as a design from the doorway, and works in a bathroom with blue or grey tile where you want the floor to be the interesting surface.
- Ocean Breeze — softer and more tonal, the wave shapes blending rather than standing out. The quieter option for a bathroom that already has pattern in the tile, and the one that shows footprints and lint less between washes.

What You're Getting
- One non-slip bathroom mat in your chosen style — Coastal Waves or Ocean Breeze — and your chosen size
- Non-slip underside, so it holds position instead of skating when you step on it wet
- 20"×31" for one standing spot in a small bathroom or en suite
- 20"×47" as a runner along a bath or between shower and towel rail
- 28"×63" for a family bathroom where two people get ready at once
- Ocean wave design across the full surface — the only decoration most bathroom floors get
- Best on large-format tile, vinyl and other flat, clean, dry floors
- Wash cool and dry low — high heat is what wrecks a non-slip backing
- Hang it up between uses so the mat and the floor underneath both dry out
