Sofa size or bed size?
Faux rabbit fur is warm enough that people do not share it politely, so buy for the number of bodies, not the room. Color is taste; size is the one that gets tested every evening.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 59"×79" | One person, one armchair or one end of the sofa, feet fully covered. Also the size that folds down small enough to keep in a basket. |
| 79"×91" | You want it across the foot of a bed, or over two people on a sofa without a nightly tug of war. |
If it is going on a bed at all, take the larger one. The small size ends up looking like a runner that shrank.
Does ruched faux fur survive the washing machine?
Yes — but the dryer is what kills faux fur, not the wash. High heat welds the fibres into permanent clumps and no amount of brushing brings them back.
| Works on | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Cold machine wash, gentle cycle, washed on its own | Hot water and any high-heat tumble setting |
| Air drying flat, or the lowest heat your dryer offers | Washing it alongside towels, which shed lint deep into the pile |
| A soft brush through the pile once it is fully dry | Ironing, and fabric softener, which flattens the loft |
The step people skip: brushing it out afterwards. Pile always comes out of a wash lying flat and looking wrong, and most people conclude the blanket is ruined at exactly the point it needs thirty seconds with a soft brush.
A blanket that still looks good on the sofa after someone has slept on it.
The usual life of a plush throw is short and predictable. It arrives looking immaculate, gets sat on for a week, and then develops a permanent flat patch shaped like whoever sits there most. The pile lies over in one direction, it stops catching light, and by month two the thing you bought to make the room look soft is the thing making it look tired.
Ruching solves that by never being flat in the first place. The surface is gathered into ridges, so it is meant to be uneven — which means a crushed patch has nothing to contrast against.

Why the ruching is the reason to buy this one
Faux rabbit fur is a short, dense, very soft pile — the closest imitation of the real thing, and the one that feels best under a hand. Its weakness is that short pile shows compression badly. Every elbow, every knee, every hour the cat spent there leaves a visible dent, because a flat plush surface only looks right when it is genuinely flat.
Gathering that pile into ruched channels changes the whole equation. Light hits the ridges and falls into the valleys, so the surface reads as deliberate texture rather than as an even plane. Sit on it, get up, and the disturbance disappears into the pattern instead of announcing itself. It is why this construction survives daily sofa duty when a smooth plush throw does not.
The ruching also adds real loft. There is more material sitting above the backing than a flat weave of the same fibre would give you, which is why it feels substantial across your legs rather than like a thin sheet with fur on it.
The three colorways
- Snow Dusk — the palest. Best at the foot of a bed or on a chair in a bedroom, where it stays away from the wine and the dog.
- Midnight Ash — deep charcoal. The one for a grey or navy sofa in a room that gets real daily use, and the most forgiving of the three between washes.
- Mocha Glow — warm mid-brown. Sits naturally with leather, oak and anything terracotta, and reads warm from across the room in a way the grey does not.
