Is it going to pill, and does it survive the wash?
Fleece pills where it rubs — under the arms, at the belt line, along the pocket edges — and heat is what accelerates it. Wash it cool and separately and it stays smooth far longer than most people expect.

That's why a fleece robe feels warm the second it touches skin, while a heavier cotton one takes a minute. It also means it dries fast on the hook and weighs almost nothing to wear for an hour.
Where it differs from a towelling robe is absorbency. Fleece moves water along rather than soaking it up, so it's better as a warm layer after you've towelled off than as the towel itself. If you want something to stand in dripping wet, that's a different robe. If you want something that makes a cold house liveable, this is the one.
