Which Size fits my sofa?
Measure across the front from the outside of one arm to the outside of the other, then add about a foot. Every size is 71" deep, which covers seat and back on a standard sofa — so length is the only number you need to get right.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| 71" × 71" | An armchair, a recliner, or the one seat the dog has claimed and you have given up defending. |
| 71" × 91" | A two-seater or a compact loveseat — flat living rooms, apartments, second sofas in a study. |
| 71" × 118" | The ordinary three-seater. If you are not sure and it is the main sofa in the room, this is the safe answer. |
| 71" × 134" | A four-seater, a wide-armed three-seater, or one leg of an L-shaped sectional. |
Between two sizes, size up. Surplus tucks away invisibly; a shortfall shows on both arms at once.
Will it stay on the sofa, and which side goes up?
Both faces are finished, so "which side" is a mood decision, not a right-or-wrong one. Staying put, though, depends on your upholstery.
| Works on | Needs work |
|---|---|
| Fabric sofas of any kind — linen weave, cotton, bouclé, chenille, velvet, corduroy. | Leather and vinyl. The cover has nothing to grip and will migrate every time someone gets up. |
| Sofas with lift-out seat cushions, so you can bury the excess in the gap behind them. | Fixed bench seats with no crevice — you will need to re-smooth it more often. |
| Cool machine wash, gentle cycle, line dry. | Hot washes and hot tumble drying — both shrink the weave and cost you the length you paid for. |
To fit it: drape, centre by eye, then work from the middle outward pushing fabric down into the seat crease before you touch the arms. Doing the arms first is the standard mistake — it pulls the middle tight and the whole thing walks forward within an evening.
Two sofas for the price of one, and neither of them shows the dog.
The problem with a sofa is that it is the largest color decision in the room and you made it once, years ago, probably in a hurry. Now the cushions you bought later do not go with it, the sun has bleached one arm, and there is a patch by the corner where the dog turns three times before lying down. Nordic Speckle is the low-commitment fix: it changes the color of the biggest object in the room in about two minutes, and if you get bored of that color, you turn it over.

The speckle is the practical bit, not just the pretty bit
A flat, single-color sofa cover is unforgiving. Every crease casts a shadow, every crumb sits in high contrast, and every dent from someone sitting down stays visible until you smooth it out again. A speckled surface — flecks of a second and third tone shot through the base color — breaks the eye up. Creases stop reading as creases, light dust and pet hair stop being the first thing you see, and the cover looks the same on Sunday evening as it did on Saturday morning.
Reversibility doubles that usefully rather than gimmickily. Each colorway carries its speckle on both faces, so you get a lighter read and a heavier one from the same piece. In practice people flip it seasonally, or flip it the day before visitors when one side has taken a coffee hit.
The five colorways
- Charcoal Ivy — deep grey with a green cast in the fleck. The forgiving one. Best in a room with dark wood or black metal, and the obvious choice if you have animals.
- Olive Bloom — muted green. Warms up a room with a lot of white wall and makes plants look deliberate rather than random.
- Mocha Blossom — warm brown. The one that goes with everything already in a rented flat, and hides tea better than anything else here.
- Peach Petal — soft warm pink. Lifts a north-facing room that never gets direct light and always looks slightly grey.
- Ash Fern — pale grey-green. The quiet option; reads as a neutral from across the room and shows its color only up close.
