Black or Grey?
This one lives inside the shower in plain sight, so the choice is about what it sits against on the wall. Both are the same squeegee; the difference is whether it reads as a fitting or as a tool.
| Choose | If this sounds like you |
|---|---|
| Black | Matte black shower rail and frame, or dark tile. It lines up with the fittings and stops looking like cleaning equipment. |
| Grey | A pale bathroom with chrome fittings and white or grey tile, where black would be the loudest thing in the cubicle. |
Households with two showers usually end up wanting two — a squeegee that has to be carried between bathrooms never gets used.
What can you actually run it over?
A squeegee needs a smooth surface to seal against — that is the whole rule. On the left it clears the water in one pass; on the right it just skips and drips.
| Works on | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Glass shower screens and frameless panels — the surface where water marks show worst. | Textured or riven stone tile, where the blade cannot make contact across its length. |
| Gloss wall tile and acrylic shower panels. | Mosaic tile with deep grout lines — the blade drops in and skips out. |
| Bathroom mirrors and windows, and the kitchen splashback if you are already holding it. | Dragging it over grit — one piece of sand under the blade will score glass permanently. |
Work top to bottom in overlapping vertical strokes, finishing with one horizontal pass along the bottom rail. The step people skip is that last pass along the rail, which is where the water collects and where the white scale line eventually forms.
Thirty seconds after your shower, instead of an hour with a scale remover in June.
Nobody sets out to let a shower screen go cloudy. It happens because water dries on glass, minerals stay behind, and each shower adds a layer so thin you cannot see it until about week six — at which point the screen has a permanent milky film and the only options are aggressive chemicals or living with it. Squeegeeing the glass while you are still in the cubicle takes about as long as turning the taps off. It is the least interesting habit in home maintenance and one of the few that genuinely saves you a job later.

Why the blade edge decides whether it works
Every squeegee that fails does the same thing: it leaves a thin trail of water behind each stroke, so you go over the same panel three times and give up by the second week. That is an edge problem. A blade has to be straight along its full length and flexible enough to hold contact as the glass flexes slightly under pressure, or it lifts in the middle and lets water through. Hold it at a shallow angle rather than pressing it flat against the glass, and let the edge do the work — pushing harder makes it worse, because a compressed blade bows away in the centre. Keep it out of the direct spray between uses, and rinse it if you ever use it near grit. The blade is the whole tool; the handle is just how you hold it.
The two colorways
- Black — disappears against a black shower frame and dark tile. It is also the finish that shows soap residue and water spots least between rinses.
- Grey — a softer, neutral tone for a white or pale grey bathroom. Sits quietly on the wall of the cubicle rather than drawing a hard line across it.

What You're Getting
- One Modern Shower Squeegee in your chosen Color
