    Which panda am I getting?

All three are the same knitted blanket with the same panda motif — the difference is the ground color it is knitted on, which decides how loudly the panda reads across a room. If the blanket is going on a bed a child sleeps in, go brighter. If it is going on a sofa an adult sits on, go quieter.

Choose If this sounds like you
Moonlight Panda You want the highest contrast — the panda visible from the doorway. The one children pick if you let them pick.
Creamy Panda A warm, soft ground that sits happily in a neutral bedroom or on a linen sofa. The safest of the three in a room you have already decorated.
Panda Ash Grey-toned rooms, and adults who want the blanket to be a knitted grey throw first and a panda second.

These get borrowed. If there are two people in the house who will both claim it, order two.

Knitted blankets and snagging — how careful do I need to be?

A knit is a loop structure, so the one real risk is a pulled thread, and it comes from hooks and claws rather than from wear. Handle that and a knitted blanket outlasts almost anything else on the sofa.

    Works Avoid
Washing it alone on a cold gentle cycle, or inside a laundry bag. Washing it with zips, buttons, buckles or anything with a hook on it.
Drying it flat, or over two lines so the weight is spread. Hanging it wet from a single peg — a wet knit stretches under its own weight and stays stretched.
Easing a pulled loop back through with a blunt needle or your fingers. Cutting a snag. On a knit, cutting one loop is how a small pull becomes a hole.

Wash it cold and on its own, dry it flat, and if something pulls a loop, work it back rather than trimming it. Drying flat is the step people skip, and it is the entire reason some knitted blankets keep their shape for years while others end up longer than they started.

The blanket someone actually goes looking for.

Every house has a stack of throws that nobody touches and one blanket that is permanently missing, because it has been dragged to the sofa, then to a bedroom, then into a den made of dining chairs. That is not about warmth. It is about a blanket having a face on it. A knitted panda motif turns a functional textile into a thing a child — or, honestly, an adult on a bad Tuesday — chooses on purpose, and the knit is what makes it worth choosing twice.

    Knitted-in, not printed on

This matters more than it sounds. A printed panda is ink lying on a flat surface: it looks perfect in the photo and then goes chalky and cracked around the third wash, and it always sits slightly on top of the fabric rather than being part of it. Here the panda is built into the knit itself — the pattern is made by the stitches, so there is no surface layer to wear away. Run a hand across it and you can feel where the motif is.

The knit structure also gives the blanket its behaviour. Knitted loops stretch and recover, which is why a knit drapes around a shoulder and follows the shape of a curled-up person instead of tenting over them like a flat woven throw. It traps air in the loops too, so it feels warm without being heavy, and it packs down small enough to shove in the corner of a sofa when nobody needs it.

The three colorways in a room

    • Moonlight Panda — the boldest contrast of the three. The panda is the first thing you see, from any distance. Best on a child's bed or anywhere you want it to be obviously theirs.
    • Creamy Panda — warm and soft-toned. Reads as a cream knitted throw with a panda in it, which is why it works folded over an armchair in a room full of adults.
    • Panda Ash — grey-toned and the most restrained. The one for a living room where you want the texture of a knit more than you want a character.
