A diatomaceous mat grips best on a floor that's clean and flat — the problem is almost never the mat, it's soap film on the tile underneath. Wipe the floor down before you first put it in place.

Care is short: wipe the surface with a damp cloth, stand it on its long edge somewhere airy, and let it dry out fully every week or so. The step people skip — standing it up to air. Leave it flat on the floor permanently and the underside never dries, which is where the musty smell in every bathroom mat comes from.
Keep it out of the way of a dropped hairdryer or a heavy tile-scrubbing brush, and don't lean anything heavy against it while it's upright.

The bath mat problem is a specific one. You get out of the shower, stand on a folded towel-mat, and it's damp. So is the next person's turn, and the one after that, and by evening there's a cold soggy rectangle on the bathroom floor that someone has to hang over the rail. Why the surface, not the pattern, decides whether you keep it
Diatomaceous material is full of tiny pores. Water hits it and goes in rather than sitting on top, then leaves again into the air. That's the whole mechanism, and it's why the mat behaves so differently from cotton pile: no wringing, no laundry basket, no wet fabric slapped over the shower screen. The floral print is set into that surface rather than woven, so it doesn't flatten, pill or shed the way a printed textile mat does after a season of wet feet.
