Which length — and how much overhang do I want?
All five options are 55" wide, so measure the length of your table and add 8 to 12 inches. That extra is what gives you a drop at each end instead of a cloth that finishes flush and looks like a fitted sheet.

Longer is always the safer error. A cloth that hangs a little low looks generous; one that stops short looks like the wrong cloth.
How do I keep the embroidery and the tassels from getting wrecked?
Neither survives a hot wash with a heavy load, and both are fine forever if you avoid that one thing. The design is stitched and the tassels are loose thread, so the risk is mechanical, not chemical.

Comb the tassels straight with your fingers while the cloth is still damp. Skip that and they dry into a permanent tangle that no amount of later combing sorts out.
